Naked Red, White and Blue Cake

For the best results, gently press down ingredients and use them at room temperature. Adjust types of fillings to your liking.

1 box yellow cake mix

1 cup blueberry or grape preserves

2 tablespoons apple brandy

1 cup raspberry preserves

2 tablespoons Chambord

1½ pints blueberries, about 3 cups

1½ pints raspberries, about 3 cups

2 canisters of prepared vanilla frosting

8 ounces mascarpone or cream cheese

4 tablespoons cannabutter

Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Generously grease and lightly dust two 9-by-9-inch round pans with flour. Pour in batter. Bake according to box directions. Cool and partially freeze. Split each cake to make four layers.

Meanwhile, thin the blueberry preserves with apple brandy and the raspberry preserves with Chambord. Add frosting to a mixing bowl and beat in mascarpone or cream cheese and cannabutter until light and fluffy (room temperature makes for easier mixing). Thin with a little milk if necessary.

To assemble, place the bottom of one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of preserves followed by frosting and a layer of fruit. Repeat process with remaining three layers.  Makes 8 servings, about 17 mg THC based on a 15 percent strain.
